Programs Overview

The SRRC works to foster the health and well-being of the Salmon River watershed and its inhabitants through a variety of projects and programs.

The Fisheries Program encompasses the Salmon River and the entire Klamath River basin with projects that focus on cooperation amongst different stakeholders and agencies to protect and restore native fisheries resources in the Salmon River. 

Our Cooperative Noxious Weed Program is a community-based approach to eradicating noxious weeds in our watershed using manual control methods rather than toxic herbicides.

Our Fire, Fuels, and Forestry Program promotes a collaborative approach to fire planning, fuels reduction, and forestry projects in the Salmon River watershed.

Our Water Quality Monitoring Program monitors water quality and quantity on the Salmon River and its tributaries in order to better promote and understand the health of the river and its fisheries.

Our Habitat Restoration Program works to restore riparian vegetation, improves fish passage to blocked segments of spawning streams, enhances creek mouths to benefit fish, stabilizes stream banks, and restores mining tailing piles.

Our Watershed Education Program integrates watershed and fisheries awareness into the curricula of the two Salmon River schools and has met with much acclaim from students, teachers, parents and the community. 

Our River Clean-Up Program helps maintain a clean and litter-free watershed by clearing up waste both large and small throughout the watershed.

The Council's key media outreach projects-- newsletters, SRRC's Facebook page and this website--provide local residents, landowners, governmental agencies, local tribes, other restoration groups, and the general public with up-to-date information on the SRRC, our current activities, the Salmon River region, and the issues that affect it.
